Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that a major operation has been launched in 12 provinces targeting dirty relationship networks leaking information to new-generation criminal organizations. In simultaneous raids coordinated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 50 suspects were apprehended, including 10 police officers, 15 customs officials, and 2 lawyers, who were found to have transferred critical state information such as criminal records, red notices, and customs data to the organizations.

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that a major operation has been launched against dirty networks of relationships trying to open space for criminal organizations. In an operation coordinated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out simultaneously in 12 provinces, 50 suspects, including police officers, customs guards, and lawyers, were detained.

PUBLIC OFFICIALS WHO LEAKED INFORMATION EXPOSED

The investigation, conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, revealed the dirty hands of criminal organizations extending into state institutions.

Through meticulous examinations, it was determined that organization leaders and members leaked critical state data from some public officials who abused their duties. The information transferred to criminal organizations includes the following:

  • Criminal, wanted, and arrest records
  • Red notice information
  • Vehicle registration queries and customs transit information

SIMULTANEOUS RAIDS IN 12 PROVINCES

Security forces, pressing the button within the scope of the investigation, carried out simultaneous raids in a total of 12 provinces: Istanbul, Muğla, Bursa, Edirne, Çanakkale, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Diyarbakır, İzmir, Balıkesir, Ankara, and Kayseri. The professional groups of the 50 suspects detained in the operation drew attention:

  • 10 Police Officers
  • 15 Customs Guards
  • 1 Deputy Director of Customs Guard
  • 2 Probation Officers
  • 1 Court Clerk
  • 2 Lawyers

MINISTER GÜRLEK: NO TOLERANCE WILL BE SHOWN

Giving clear messages regarding the operation, Justice Minister Akın Gürlek emphasized that the use of public power for interests will not be allowed. Minister Gürlek stated in his statement: "No tolerance will be shown to anyone who attempts to place the state's resources at the service of criminal organizations, to damage the dignity of public office and the trust of our nation in the state; legal proceedings will be initiated without delay against anyone who tries to use public power for personal or organizational interests."

Minister Gürlek thanked the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, and the Turkish police force for meticulously conducting the operation, saying, "We will continue to demonstrate the power of the rule of law against criminal organizations in the most determined manner in the Century of Türkiye."
