The first hearing of the case involving those detained during the protests that began in Saraçhane following Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention and subsequent arrest was held. While the files of 8 journalists and 4 lawyers were separated, the trial of 99 students was postponed to October 3rd.

Protests that began with the detention of Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 others as part of the corruption and terrorism investigation launched against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality continued with the arrest of many individuals.



While many people were detained during the protests, an indictment was prepared for 189 individuals. The first hearing of the case was held today.



JOURNALISTS' CASES SEPARATED



Upon the request of the lawyers for the separation of the journalists' cases, the court panel separated the files of 8 journalists and 4 lawyers. The hearing was postponed due to the inadequacy of the courtroom and the large number of defendants and defense attorneys. It was decided that 45 individuals would be tried in July. The trial date for the other 45 individuals will be announced later.
