Raziye Şenocak (26), who works as a cashier at a market in the Pamukkale district of Denizli, saved a 10-year-old female student who choked on a candy at her workplace by performing the Heimlich maneuver. The incident was captured by the market's security camera, while Şenocak was shaken the next day when her house burned down.
Raziye Şenocak, a married mother of a 2-year-old child living in Tekke Neighborhood, noticed on October 20 that a female student who came to the market where she worked as a cashier was unable to breathe after the candy she ate got stuck in her throat. Şenocak immediately went over to the student, wrapped her arms around her waist, and performed the Heimlich maneuver. Raziye Şenocak dislodged the candy and helped her breathe comfortably again. Those moments when Şenocak saved the student's life were recorded moment by moment by the market's security cameras.
BEFORE 24 HOURS PASSED, A FIRE BROKE OUT IN HER HOUSE
Raziye Şenocak, who experienced the joy of saving a child's life by performing the Heimlich maneuver, was shaken by news that came while she was again working at the market, before even 24 hours had passed. Şenocak was stunned when she learned that a fire had broken out in her house. Şenocak ran to her house and sorrowfully watched the flames engulfing her single-story house in the fire, which was assessed to have started from an electrical contact. The flames were extinguished by firefighting teams, but the house became unusable.
HER BELONGINGS, PHOTOS, AND MEMORIES WERE DESTROYED
Neighborhood residents and the owner of the market where she worked took care of Raziye Şenocak, all of whose belongings burned. Şenocak, for whom a house was rented, started her new life with donated items. Saying that her life was turned upside down when her house burned down, Raziye Şenocak said, "That day was different and strange for me. While I was saving a life on the one hand, my life changed on the other hand when my house burned down. We want to rebuild the house, but we don't have enough financial means. In the fire that broke out in the house, my belongings, books, photos, and memories were all destroyed. The neighborhood residents took care of us, and we rented a house. We are trying to rebuild a life again. It was an event I did not expect; I was afraid of earthquakes, but my house was lost to a fire."
