After his treatment in Muğla, Ferdi Tayfur, who was transferred to Antalya by military plane at the request of his doctors and family, underwent surgery at Medical Park Antalya Hospital some time ago. Tayfur passed away at the same hospital.

SINUS SURGERY WAS PERFORMED

Ferdi Tayfur, who fell ill at his home in Marmaris on December 15, was first transferred to a private hospital in the district by ambulance and then to another private healthcare institution in Muğla. After his treatment in the intensive care unit of the general surgery department, the artist was transferred from Muğla to the hospital in Antalya on December 16, where he underwent sinus surgery.

It was reported that the artist had a stent placed in a brain vessel during a previous surgery at a hospital in Antalya. Ferdi Tayfur also received a kidney transplant from his son in Antalya in 2020 after undergoing dialysis treatment for a while.

According to a statement made by Recep Ergül, the President of the Turkish Musicians' Rights Society (MESAM), a funeral ceremony will be held for the master artist on Saturday, January 4, at the Atatürk Cultural Center. Tayfur's funeral will be buried in Yeniköy Cemetery after the prayer to be held at Emirgan Çınaraltı Mosque in the afternoon.

It was reported that 79-year-old artist Ferdi Tayfur, who was being treated at a hospital in Antalya, passed away due to liver and kidney failure. A written statement was made regarding the artist Tayfur's death from the Chief Physician of Medical Park Antalya Hospital Complex.

The statement noted that the artist was brought to the hospital by military plane on December 16 and underwent surgery for sinus cleaning due to a previously developed fungal infection, stating, "After the surgery, our artist's health condition improved, but unfortunately, he was admitted to intensive care due to rapidly progressing liver and kidney failure yesterday afternoon. Despite ongoing intensive treatment and all efforts of his doctors, our artist passed away at 19:38. As Medical Park Hospitals, we are deeply saddened to inform his fans that the beloved artist of Turkish music, Mr. Ferdi Tayfur, has left us due to liver and kidney failure."

The statement emphasized that Ferdi Tayfur would be remembered for generations not only for his powerful voice and unforgettable songs but also for the innovations and sincerity he brought to Turkish music, and extended condolences to his family and fans.

FANS OF THE ARTIST ARE SAD

After the news of the artist's death, his fans gathered in front of the hospital building. Fans praying for Tayfur shed tears. Some fans also played Tayfur's songs from their cars and phones. Ayşegül Can, one of the artist's fans, said that her childhood was spent listening to Ferdi Tayfur's songs. Expressing that Tayfur's death saddened them greatly, Can stated, "Such an artist will not come again for a hundred years. We got up from our beds and came here, we came in our pajamas. We cried all the way here. I am very sad that we lost such a voice. May our nation's head be healthy."

Murat Aygın also stated that Tayfur was a very valuable artist. Reminding that Tayfur was from Adana, Aygın mentioned that he also grew up in Adana and knew the neighborhood where he grew up very well. He explained that they grew up with the artist's songs and movies, saying, "We would cry when we came out of the cinema. It felt like we grew up in the same house. Ferdi was like a family member. He was the poor father."

75-year-old Süleyman Akdoğan also noted that they were children of the same neighborhood. Expressing that Turkey lost a valuable person, Akdoğan extended his condolences to his loved ones. Abdullah Şimşek stated that he came to visit when he heard that Tayfur was being treated in the hospital, waiting for hours in front of the hospital but could not see him. Expressing disbelief at the news of his death, Şimşek said, "We loved him very much, his tapes are still there, I constantly share Ferdi Tayfur's songs. Now we have come to fulfill our last duty."
