A terrible incident occurred in December 2023 on a public bus in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak. Osman Talha Taşkın (14), who boarded the public bus with license plate 67 M 8509 from the Meydanbaşı area of Müftü Neighborhood, shortly afterward fainted and collapsed onto the vehicle's front console.

HE FELL TO THE GROUND WHEN THE DOOR OPENED, HIS SKULL WAS FRACTURED

Noticing the situation, the driver Tayfun Y stopped the bus and opened the door. When the door opened, Osman Talha Taşkın fell to the ground and hit his head. Passengers and bystanders alerted the medical teams. After the initial intervention by the medical team that arrived, Taşkın was taken to Ereğli State Hospital. A CT scan revealed that there was subcutaneous bleeding in the eye area, edema in the tissues, and a fracture in the skull. It was determined that Taşkın was injured in a way that could not be resolved with simple medical intervention and posed a life-threatening risk. After staying in the hospital for a week, Taşkın was discharged. Taşkın's father, Hüseyin Taşkın, went to the police station to file a complaint against the driver. It will become clear over time whether the damage to Taşkın's head will heal.

TERRIFYING MOMENTS CAPTURED ON CAMERA

While the public bus was in motion, the moments when Taşkın fainted, the driver noticed the situation and touched the child, and then opened the door, as well as the child's fall, were captured by the vehicle's interior camera.

"IF THE DRIVER HAD RECEIVED TRAINING, THIS SITUATION WOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED"

Hüseyin Taşkın, stating that his son ended up in this condition due to the door opening, said, "My son boards the bus, he has no health issues, but he suddenly became ill and fainted. Despite seeing that he fainted, the door was opened without any intervention. When the door opened, he fell to the ground. If the door had not been opened, nothing would have happened. We all carry lives. Anything can happen. They could have a heart attack, a brain hemorrhage, or have a seizure. In such situations, every driver needs to be trained. If they had received training, such a situation would not have occurred, and nothing like this would have happened to my child. We all have children. This incident could happen to any of us. Let's not say 'oh no' when lives are lost tomorrow. Training is essential." he said.

"HE JUMPS OUT OF BED IN FEAR AT NIGHT"

Hüseyin Taşkın claimed that his son gets up from bed in fear at night and that his psychology has deteriorated, saying, "He doesn't go outside the house. He lies down. We keep watch over him at night. I hope he gets better. God spared my child for us. I don't want anyone to experience such an incident. They should realize that they have responsibilities now. My child jumps out of bed in fear at night. He has seizures. We keep watch beside him. My child's condition is not good. The cooperative, association, and public buses need to take action. They need to provide training. As much as the driver is at fault, all these institutions are also guilty." he stated.
