EXCESS PATIENTS DETECTED THROUGH PHONE CONVERSATIONS

In a conversation between the gang leader, Dr. Fırat S., and the suspect Ceren Hatice K., it was revealed in the indictment that phone calls were made on the day the District Health Directorate came for an inspection. In the conversation, Ceren Hatice K. said, "Doctor, they came for an inspection from the ministry. They are checking everything, the steps, the tables, everything, and I have 28 patients. Normally, the patient count here is 23," to which Fırat S. replied, "Okay, you already have discharges today, don't you have 3 patients to discharge? Arrange the discharges."

"WE WILL APPEAR IN THE NEWS, THEY WILL PUT STRIPS ON OUR EYES WITH OUR ID PHOTOS"

Phone conversations between nurse Hakan Doğukan T., who is responsible for patient tracking at one of the 11 hospitals mentioned in the investigation, and Hasan Basri G. were also included in the indictment. In the conversations, Hakan Doğukan T. said, "We will appear in the news, they will put strips on our eyes with our ID photos," to which Hasan Basri G. replied, "This time they will really take us."

In a conversation between nurse Hasan Basri G. and a person named Funda S., it was noted that he said, "So many babies were admitted yesterday, Funda, they were all like crap, how did that child get through? Are their blood results really clean?" After Funda S. said, "They are really clean," Hasan Basri G. responded, "Funda, they were all moaning, that one born last was like a monkey."

Funda S. also mentioned, "Hasan, don't trust the blood results in our lab, should I say that out loud?"

"WHAT DO WE CARE IF THE BABY DIES"

Phone conversations between nurse Hakan Doğukan T. and suspect Hüseyin G. after the death of a baby were also included in the indictment. In the recordings, Hüseyin G. said, "What do we care if the baby dies, so we can complain comfortably," to which Hakan Doğukan T. replied, "Dude, it's sad, the child died right in front of my eyes." What files, what inspection, should we remove the documents?"

THEY INVOICED SGK BY SHOWING THE MEDICATION AS USED

In the indictment prepared by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that monitoring and technical surveillance were conducted regarding the allegation that Dr. Fırat S. and I.G. used the neonatal intensive care units of private hospitals for financial gain outside of treatment. It was recorded that the suspects, doctors F.S. and İlker G., acted contrary to the Private Hospitals Regulation. The indictment revealed that the suspects invoiced SGK for medications they did not use as if they had been used, obtaining unfair profits. It was also noted in the indictment that there were money movements between the gang members through internet banking. It was stated that suspect Fırat S. operated the neonatal intensive care units of many private hospitals in Istanbul and placed health workers who acted in concert with him in these units. It was mentioned that Fırat S. and İlker G. transferred baby patients who were born in state or private hospitals and whose treatment was deemed appropriate to be carried out in other hospitals due to their intensity to the hospitals they had contracts with.

THEY ENSURED THAT BABIES STAYED IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A LONG TIME

It was revealed in the indictment that the suspects ensured that babies stayed in the hospital for a long time and received high payments from SGK, causing damage to the public institution. It was also stated that the suspects caused the deaths of babies who could not be treated with appropriate treatment methods. It was reported that ambulance driver G.M.Ö., and those who carried out the transfer processes, R.K, F.A, and S.Y, learned about the baby patients who needed to be transferred and conveyed this to gang leaders Fırat S. or İlker G. In the indictment prepared, it was requested that the suspects identified as gang leaders, Fırat S. and İlker G., be sentenced to imprisonment for 180 to 273 years for 'causing death by negligent behavior', 'fraud to the detriment of public institutions and organizations', 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime', and 11 counts of 'forgery in official documents'. It was also requested that varying prison sentences be sought for the other suspects mentioned in the indictment. Additionally, it was requested that the hospitals and companies mentioned in the indictment be closed and their assets confiscated. The indictment was sent to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the preparation of an indictment.
