The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, announced that they have decided to hold an extraordinary congress. Özel stated that they will convene the congress on April 6, in 15 days, and said, "We declare to all of Turkey that we have made the decision to hold an extraordinary congress and that we have thwarted the attempts for trustees."

In the investigation of terrorism and corruption against the İBB, many people were detained alongside Ekrem İmamoğlu. While new developments continue in the operation, the CHP has made a striking decision.

CHP HAS DECIDED TO HOLD AN EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel announced that they will hold an extraordinary congress. Özel stated, "Today we are making a new decision, a new initiative... We have seen preparations to obstruct this election by appointing a trustee to the CHP, and I am announcing our application for today. According to the sixth paragraph of Article 48 of our statute, we declare to all of Turkey that we have decided to hold an extraordinary congress 15 days from now, thus preventing the trustee attempts by taking the party to an extraordinary congress." he said.

THE CONGRESS WILL BE HELD ON APRIL 6

Özel, who stated that the congress will be held on April 6, said, "The delegates of the CHP, for whom I personally vouch for their honor, will go to the congress ballot box and refresh their will in defiance of those who even dare to appoint a trustee to the party founded by Atatürk, in order not to make someone president. We continue on our way by saying to the malignant mind, 'go ahead with your work'." he said.

THE OPERATION IN WHICH İMAMOĞLU WAS DETAINED

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 suspects for the crimes of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "embezzlement," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender." Additionally, an investigation was initiated against İmamoğlu, İBB Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, among 7 suspects, for the crime of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."

Following the detention orders, security forces took action, detaining 84 suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, İBB Presidential Advisor Murat Ongun, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and singer Ercan Saatçi. In the continuation of the operations, 3 more suspects with detention orders were captured.
