At the breakfast event in Akyaka, Muğlaspor technical director Yalçın Koşukavak, who told female press members, 'If I had known, I would have brought kısır (bulgur salad) and gold, we would have had a gathering,' became the target of criticism. The club management defended that the statements in question were taken out of context and twisted to a different point.
Yalcin Kosukavak, the technical director of Trendyol 1st League team Muglaspor, became the target of criticism for his remarks towards female journalists at a press meeting. Following the reactions, Muglaspor Club issued a written statement.
''IF I HAD KNOWN, I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE GOLD AND GONE FOR A GATHERING''
At a welcome breakfast held in Akyaka with the participation of players, their families, management, and press members, Yalcin Kosukavak met with journalists. Seeing the number of female journalists in the hall, he said, "I had never seen this many women at a press conference before. You probably don't have any questions now. If I had known, I would have brought the gold and we could have had a gathering."
HIS WORDS SPARKED REACTION
Kosukavak's remarks were found sexist and condescending, drawing harsh criticism from journalists in the hall, press professional organizations, and the public.
HURRIED STATEMENT FROM MUGLASPOR
Following the incident, Muglaspor management issued a statement, arguing that the experienced coach's words were misunderstood. The club's statement said, "We regret that some words spoken by our Technical Director Yalcin Kosukavak have been taken out of context and twisted. Our coach was drawing attention to the high participation of female press members; he wanted to express his pleasure by noting that he had never encountered an environment with so many female journalists together in any city he previously worked in."
REACTIONS GROWING LIKE AN AVALANCHE
Despite Muglaspor's defense, institutions such as the Bodrum Journalists Association and Mugla Bar Association found the statement inadequate and invited Yalcin Kosukavak to apologize to female journalists and the public.
