The Presidency of Religious Affairs stated that the news published today in a newspaper under the headline "Eat Bread, Be Satisfied" is not true and that legal action will be initiated against those involved.
STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENCY REGARDING THE "EAT BREAD" CLAIM
A written statement was made by the Presidency regarding the news published today in a newspaper under the headline "Eat Bread, Be Satisfied."
In the statement, it was reported that the article in question is titled "The Extent of Bread Waste in Our Country," which was written as part of the "Campaign to Prevent Bread Waste" initiated by the Presidency of Religious Affairs with a Prime Ministry Circular in 2013.
"A GREAT LIE AND DISTORTION HAS BEEN SIGNED"
The statement noted that the relevant article was published 12 years ago in the Monthly Ideas and Research Journal of Retired Police Chiefs of Turkey, and later in the book "Ramadan Diaries," which consists of writings by President Erbaş and was published in 2019. It was stated, "In the article, the importance of preventing bread waste is explained by utilizing scientific data. However, in the news, expressions such as 'Ali Erbaş thought meat and vegetables were too much for the citizens' were used, which constitutes a great lie and distortion. There is no part in the article that suggests such expressions."
"THE ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN 12 YEARS AGO"
The statement recorded the following: "The article, which discusses the importance of preventing bread waste and was written exactly 12 years ago, has been presented by the newspaper as if it were newly written today, and a statement that does not exist in the article has been fabricated to create a news headline, misleading the public. It has been observed that the newspaper, which has previously published lies and distortions about our Presidency and our esteemed President, is once again making malicious and intentional news to create a negative perception of the Presidency of Religious Affairs in the person of the President. Legal action will be initiated regarding the news."
