New details have emerged regarding the chilling incident in which 19-year-old Nagihan, who had been missing for a year in Kütahya, was reportedly killed after being abused by her uncle and thrown into a well at the entrance of the house. It has been claimed that the family was aware of the sexual abuse and that family members gathered at the uncle's house to make a decision to execute Nagihan.
It has been revealed that Nagihan Uyğur (19), who has been missing for a year in Kütahya, was sexually assaulted by her uncle Yaşar T. (41), then killed, and thrown into a well at the entrance of the house they shared. During the excavation work in the well, which was covered with concrete, the body of the young girl was found, and 9 suspects, including uncle Yaşar T., who is detained on the charge of killing Nagihan Uyğur's father Mehmet Uyğur, were taken into custody, 8 of whom were arrested.
In Kütahya, H.E.T. (22) reported to the Şehit Mehmet Kartal Police Station that her sister Nagihan Uyğur had been missing for about a year. H.E.T. stated that her sister last left home in April last year and was working in bars in Eskişehir, and that she had not heard from her since that date.
THE BODY WAS FOUND IN A WELL COVERED WITH CONCRETE Following the missing person report, the Kütahya Police Department's Homicide Bureau teams launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Statements were taken from many people, including relatives and friends. Police teams learned that Nagihan Uyğur was killed in the house where she stayed with her uncle Yaşar T. after her mother Hatice Uyğur was imprisoned, along with her two sisters. Police teams went to the address on Dutlu Street in the Börekçiler neighborhood and detected an abnormal area on the ground floor of the two-story building. In the well covered with concrete, the body of Nagihan Uyğur, who was being searched for as missing, was found during the excavation carried out by the police, AFAD, and crime scene investigation teams upon the instruction of the Public Prosecutor's Office. After the police examination, Nagihan Uyğur's body was taken to the hospital morgue for autopsy procedures. It was determined that the house where Nagihan Uyğur's body was found was sold to someone else for 1 million lira in August 2024.
8 SUSPECTS ARRESTED As part of the investigation initiated regarding the death of Nagihan Uyğur, 9 suspects were taken into custody, including Nagihan Uyğur's uncle Yaşar T., his wife Havva T. (49), his imam-wedded wife Emine Ç. (35), his brother-in-law Osman Ç. (37), Havva Eylül T. (40), Fatma Ç. (62), Efe Sıktı T. (20), Halil T. (23), and Nagihan's sister G.U. (15). After their statements were taken at the Kütahya Police Department, the 9 suspects were referred to the Kütahya Courthouse. Sister G.U. was released after her statement, while the other suspects were arrested and sent to prison for 'intentional killing.'
MOTHER AND UNCLE, SUSPECTED KILLERS On the other hand, it was learned that uncle Yaşar T. was a fugitive in the investigation regarding the murder of Nagihan Uyğur's father Mehmet Uyğur in 2011 in Hatay and was captured and imprisoned last February. It was also revealed that in the same investigation, Nagihan Uyğur's mother Hatice Uyğur confessed to killing her husband with a gun and burying him, and was arrested in 2018. The family reportedly moved to Kütahya after the murder in 2011, following Gaziantep and Antalya.
CLAIM OF MEETING AND EXECUTION DECISION In the statements in the investigation file, it was alleged that the murdered Nagihan Uyğur was sexually abused by her uncle Yaşar T. during the time they lived in the same house, and that this situation was also known by family relatives. It was also learned that uncle Yaşar T.'s two wives, one of whom was legally married, did not accept this situation and did not want the young girl in the house. Allegedly, in September 2023, a meeting was held in the house under the leadership of Yaşar T. During this meeting, an 'execution' decision was made for Nagihan Uyğur, and it was claimed that uncle Yaşar T. strangled the young girl with a rope along with his arrested relatives and then threw her into the well, covering it with concrete.
On the other hand, Hatice Uyğur's 2 daughters were handed over to the Ministry of Family and Social Services by the decision of the prosecutor's office and taken under state protection. The investigation is ongoing.
