PUTIN: "WE ARE DECLARING A CEASEFIRE FOR THE THIRD TIME"
Putin announced that they are declaring a ceasefire in the war with Ukraine. Putin stated, "We are declaring a ceasefire for the third time." He mentioned that the Ukrainian army also needs to withdraw for the ceasefire to take effect.
"I PLAN TO MEET WITH PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN TOMORROW"
Putin stated that Turkey has made significant contributions to the ceasefire talks. Thanking Turkey for its diplomatic efforts, Putin said, "I plan to meet with President Erdoğan tomorrow."
"CEASEFIRE TALKS SHOULD BE HELD IN ISTANBUL"
Additionally, Putin pointed to Istanbul for the ceasefire talks with Ukraine. He proposed the resumption of unconditional direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul on May 15.
Key points from Putin's statements are as follows: "Moscow understands the pressure faced by European leaders regarding their decisions to participate in the May 9 celebrations and appreciates their determination. Despite threats and blackmail, some European leaders attended the anniversary of Victory, and Moscow appreciates their courage. Russia maintains hope that constructive relations with Europe will one day be restored."
UKRAINIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: "WE ARE READY FOR A 30-DAY CEASEFIRE"
On the other hand, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced via his Telegram channel that Ukrainian President Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met in the capital, Kiev.
After the meeting, Sybiha noted that Zelensky and the European leaders had a joint phone call with US President Donald Trump, during which the conditions for achieving peace in Ukraine were discussed. Sybiha stated, "Ukraine and all allies are ready for a complete and unconditional ceasefire on land, in the air, and at sea for at least 30 days starting from Monday."
"IF PUTIN DOES NOT ACCEPT THE CEASEFIRE, HE WILL FACE MORE SANCTIONS"
Additionally, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, along with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, invited Russia to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire starting from May 12. The five leaders warned that if Putin does not accept the ceasefire, Moscow will face more sanctions.
