It has been claimed that the terrorist organization PKK, which announced that it would hold a congress from May 5 to 7, has communicated its decision to disband to the government of the Republic of Turkey. So far, no official statement has been made regarding the matter.
The PKK terrorist organization, which is on the verge of laying down arms, held a congress on May 5-7. While the decisions to be made by the terrorist organization are eagerly awaited, a striking claim has emerged.
CLAIM THAT "PKK HAS COMMUNICATED ITS DECISION TO DISSOLVE TO ANKARA"
According to a report by Al Monitor, the PKK terrorist organization has communicated its decision to dissolve itself to the Republic of Turkey. However, no official statement has been made regarding the matter.
On the other hand, the statement made regarding the terrorist organization's congress included the following expressions: "The 12th Congress of the PKK was successfully held between May 5-7. Comprehensive and detailed information and documents regarding the results of the PKK's 12th congress and the decisions taken will be shared with the public very soon after the results from two different areas are combined."
HOW DID THE PROCESS BEGIN AND CONTINUE?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated at his party's group meeting on October 22, "If the isolation of the terrorist leader is lifted, let him come and speak at the TBMM DEM Party group meeting. Let him proclaim that terrorism has completely ended and that the organization has been dissolved."
Following Bahçeli's statement, the DEM Party delegation applied to the Ministry of Justice on November 26, 2024, to meet with the terrorist organization's leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı. On December 9, 2024, Bahçeli applauded the speech of DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, who called for a new beginning during the budget discussions in the Parliament.
On December 27, 2024, Justice Minister Tunç responded positively to the DEM Party's request. The first meeting of the DEM Party with PKK leader Öcalan took place on Saturday, December 28, and the second meeting was held on Wednesday, January 22. Following that, the DEM Party delegation visited their party. The delegation met with Neçirvan Barzani, President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, and Mesut Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Iraq, in Erbil on Sunday, February 16.
On Monday, February 17, they met with Bafil Talabani and Kubat Talabani in Sulaymaniyah. After another meeting with Öcalan, the DEM Party delegation made a statement, reading Öcalan's message. In his message, Öcalan stated, "I call for laying down arms and I take historical responsibility for this call." Before the statement, the last photo of Öcalan taken on Imralı Island was also shared.
DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan stated in a press conference at the Party Headquarters on May 9, "It is a matter of time before the PKK announces that it has held its congress. This is an important step. What follows this step will also be significant," she said. Shortly after Doğan's statement, the terrorist organization PKK announced that it had held its congress on May 5-7.
