The Disinformation Combat Center announced that the claim "A passenger ship carrying tourists sank in Turkey" is false. It was determined that the images in question have no connection to Turkey and actually belong to a shipwreck that occurred in Lake Kivu in the Republic of Congo in October 2024.

In a statement made by the Disinformation Combat Center on social media, it was stated, "The claim that 'A passenger ship carrying tourists sank in Turkey' is not true regarding the images shared by some social media accounts. The images have no relation to Turkey. It has been determined that the images show the moment a ship sank in Lake Kivu in the Republic of Congo in October 2024. Do not trust baseless claims."
