The Communications Directorate has denied claims that planned cesarean births will not be allowed in private hospitals without medical justification. The Communications Directorate stated, "The provision that planned cesarean sections cannot be performed applies to medical centers. This provision is based on medical and scientific reasons and has also been included in previous regulations."
The Ministry of Health has updated the "Regulation on Private Health Institutions Providing Outpatient Diagnosis and Treatment" as part of the "Healthy Turkey Century" program, implementing a series of regulations. The recent decision regarding "cesarean births," which has been a topic of discussion lately, is also included in the new regulations.
DENIAL OF "CESAREAN" BAN IN PRIVATE HOSPITALS
According to the regulation published in the Official Gazette, planned cesarean births will no longer be performed in private medical centers without a medical justification. It was claimed that this ban applies to all private hospitals.
However, the claim was denied by the Communication Presidency's Disinformation Combat Center. The statement included the following: "The claim shared from some social media accounts that 'planned cesarean is banned in our country' is not true. Private hospitals are not included in the Regulation on Private Health Institutions Providing Outpatient Diagnosis and Treatment published in the Official Gazette on April 19, 2025, and the procedures and principles of private hospitals are regulated by different legislation."
"THE BAN APPLIES TO MEDICAL CENTERS"
In this context, the provision stating that planned cesarean cannot be performed is valid for medical centers. This provision is based on medical and scientific justifications and has also been included in previous regulations. Additionally, emergency cesarean indications that develop during the course of normal labor are outside the scope of this provision. The claims that the Ministry of Health has banned planned cesarean in private hospitals have no relation to reality. Do not pay attention to baseless claims.
