The district mufti of Seyitgazi, Eskişehir, İshak Y., allegedly sent sexual content messages to his student N.A. during a religious class at the imam hatip middle school and harassed her. After the girl explained her situation, her family filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office. İshak Y., who was detained as part of the investigation initiated by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was brought to court after his processing. Following the prosecutor's interrogation, İshak Y. was brought before the Peace Criminal Court and released under judicial control. THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE APPEALED THE DECISIONAfter the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appealed the judicial control decision, an arrest warrant was issued for İshak Y. It was stated that İshak Y., who was detained again, would be brought to court and would be arrested after the decision was read to him. THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE MADE A STATEMENTThe Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a statement regarding the investigation into district mufti İshak Y. In the statement, it was said, "Regarding the allegation that the minor victim in Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir province was sexually harassed and abused by the suspect; our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has immediately initiated investigation procedures, and in this context, the suspect has been detained. The suspect has been referred to the Duty Peace Criminal Court with a request for arrest for the crimes of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Abuse of a Child as regulated in the Turkish Penal Code No. 5237, and was released under judicial control by the Duty Peace Criminal Court. An appeal has been made by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the judicial control decision given for the suspect, and upon the appeal, the Duty Criminal Court of First Instance decided to issue an arrest warrant for the suspect, who was captured on 11.01.2025 in accordance with the arrest warrant." The investigation related to the incident is ongoing.
