According to Ministry of Justice data, in 2025 the case clearance rate in family courts for cases such as divorce, alimony, and custody rose to 102.1%. More cases were concluded than were filed during the year.
According to the data from the General Directorate of Criminal Records and Statistics of the Ministry of Justice, the clearance rate of cases heard in family courts in 2025 was 102.1 percent.
The Ministry of Justice, through its General Directorate of Criminal Records and Statistics, released statistical data on divorce, alimony, custody, separation, and marriage annulment cases between 2016 and 2025.
"NUMBER OF DECISIONS EXCEEDED THE NUMBER OF CASES FILED"
Accordingly, in 2025, 309,479 divorce cases were brought to the courts of first instance. The number of decisions rendered in divorce cases in 2025 exceeded the number of cases filed during the year. The clearance rate, which was 92.9 percent in 2016, reached 102.1 percent, including decisions on cases carried over from previous years.
In marriage annulment cases, 349 new cases were filed in 2025. The clearance rate was recorded as 120.1 percent.
10-YEAR DATA COMPARED
According to the directorate's 10-year data, the clearance rate in alimony cases, which was 88 percent, rose to 108.2 percent in 2025.
In custody cases, the clearance rate, which was 68.8 percent in 2016, increased to 103.3 percent in 2025.
In the same period, the clearance rate in marriage annulment cases rose from 112.7 percent to 120.1 percent, and in separation cases from 79.1 percent to 106.8 percent.
The data revealed that in 2025, more files were decided in divorce and divorce-related cases than the number of files received by the courts during the year.
