An armed conflict broke out in front of the building where the Israeli Consulate is located in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. Footage has emerged showing the moments when the assailants arrived in front of the consulate, during which 2 of our police officers were injured.
Clashes broke out in front of the Israeli Consulate located in Levent, Istanbul. It has been reported that 1 of the assailants was killed and 2 others were neutralized, with 2 police officers injured in the incident. While the repercussions of the event continue, clear footage of the moments when the terrorists arrived at the consulate building has also emerged.
THE CONDITION OF THE INJURED COMMISSIONER IS GOOD
It has not yet been clarified where the attack took place, what the target was, or who the assailants were. It was stated that the condition of the injured commissioner is not serious, but he is not in life-threatening condition.
INITIAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TERRORISTS
According to the first information received about the terrorists, it was determined that the assailants arrived in the area in camouflage. The clash lasted approximately 10 minutes. It was determined that the assailants wore tactical camouflage clothing, carried backpacks, and arrived in the area with long-barreled weapons.
INTERIOR MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ: TWO OF THE TERRORISTS ARE BROTHERS
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, in a statement regarding the attack, said, "Three individuals who engaged in an armed conflict with our police officers on duty in front of Yapı Kredi Plaza Blocks in Istanbul have been neutralized. Two of our heroic police officers were slightly injured in the clash. The identities of the terrorists have been identified. It has been determined that one of the individuals who came to Istanbul from Izmit in a rented vehicle has connections to an organization that exploits religion; it has also been established that one of the two terrorists, who are brothers, has a drug record."
"AN IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED"
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek stated regarding the matter, "An immediate investigation has been initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office concerning the reports of gunfire that occurred around the Israeli Consulate located in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul. A chief public prosecutor deputy and two public prosecutors have been assigned within the scope of the investigation; our public prosecutors have promptly arrived at the scene and begun their examinations. In order to clarify all aspects of the incident, work is ongoing in coordination with our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the relevant law enforcement units, and the investigation is being conducted meticulously and comprehensively," he stated.
