The Global Sumud Fleet, which set out to break the blockade in Gaza, was attacked by the Israeli navy 250 miles off the coast. The moments when Israeli forces boarded five boats in international waters, breaking the rudder and sail of one boat and abandoning it to its fate in the Mediterranean, were captured on video by a Turkish activist.
Israeli soldiers attacked the Global Sumud Land Fleet, which set out to provide a lifeline to the people of Gaza struggling to survive under the Israeli blockade.
ISRAELI SOLDIERS ATTACKED 5 BOATS
The Israeli navy intercepted the fleet, consisting of 54 boats and about 400 participants, located 250 miles from Gaza. Israel first harassed a total of 5 boats in international waters, then intervened and boarded them. Additionally, contact was lost with 22 boats.
THEY SHATTERED THE BOAT
Meanwhile, the damage to a boat in the Global Sumud Fleet as a result of the Israeli navy's attack was captured on camera. Footage taken by a Turkish activist on another boat in the fleet showed the rudder and main sail broken, and the boat abandoned to its fate in the Mediterranean.
THERE WERE 37 ACTIVISTS FROM 13 COUNTRIES
On the 5 boats boarded by Israeli soldiers, there were 37 activists from 13 different countries, including Canada, Belgium, France, Australia, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Greece, Albania, the USA, Denmark, and South Korea.
