Sancaktepe Mayor Alper Yeğin stated that the dismantling process was carried out carelessly, while announcing that a large Turkish flag pole would be erected in the area where it was demolished.

THE MAYOR ALSO DISTURBED BY THE IMAGE In a statement following the criticism, Sancaktepe Mayor Alper Yeğin stated that the necessary sensitivity was not shown during the dismantling work. In his statement, Yeğin said, "Unfortunately, the careless behavior of our colleagues during the dismantling disturbed both the public and me."
A GIANT FLAGPOLE WILL BE CONSTRUCTED IN THE DEMOLISHED AREA Mayor Yeğin also announced that a new project would be carried out in the area where the monument stood, following the reactions. Accordingly, it was announced that a flagpole with a Turkish flag measuring 36 meters in height and 8x12 meters will be built in the region.
