In the Gezi Park investigation, journalist İsmail Saymaz has been taken to court. After a health check, Saymaz will give his statement.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, journalist İsmail Saymaz was detained on charges of "attempting to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey" for actively participating in the Gezi Park protests, inciting citizens to spread false information on social media, and maintaining close contact with the defendants of the Gezi Park events. A new development has occurred regarding Saymaz.

HE WAS REFERRED TO THE COURT

It has been learned that İsmail Saymaz has been referred to the court. After a health check, Saymaz will give a statement to the prosecutor at the Çağlayan Courthouse.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was determined that journalist İsmail Saymaz had conversations with individuals involved in the preparation of the website of Mehmet Osman Kavala, the organizer of the Gezi Park events, and those who were planning to establish a television channel aimed at disseminating the protests through the press.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was established that Saymaz had intense contact with the defendants of the Gezi Park events, Mehmet Osman Kavala, Şerafettin Can Atalay, Çiğdem Mater Utku, and Ayşe Mücella Yapıcı, during the events, made numerous posts on social media regarding the incidents, and attempted to incite citizens against law enforcement by providing false information on social media while actively participating in the events.

As part of the investigation, Saymaz was captured and detained for "aiding and abetting the attempt to overthrow the government of the Republic of Turkey."
