Images captured from a helicopter after a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in the Fethiye district of Muğla and was brought under control overnight with the intervention of crews revealed the extensive destruction in the area. The large area affected by the fire and the damage to nature drew attention.
A fire broke out for an undetermined reason in a forested area in İnlice District, part of the popular tourism and nature center of Fethiye in Muğla. Due to the wind, the flames spread rapidly over a large area, and numerous aerial and ground firefighting teams were dispatched to the region.
FIREFIGHTING EFFORTS LASTED 24 HOURS
Firefighting operations continued non-stop through the night, involving teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry, fire departments, and support teams from surrounding towns. Battling the challenging terrain and wind, the teams managed to bring the fire under control after 24 hours. Cooling operations are being meticulously carried out to prevent any potential re-ignition in the area.
LUSH GREEN COVER DESTROYED
After the fire was brought under control, aerial inspections and footage from helicopters revealed a heartbreaking scene. İnlice District, once adorned with postcard-perfect views and lush pine trees, was seen completely blackened.
DAMAGE RECORDED FROM THE AIR
The aerial footage clearly revealed the painful sight of nature turned to ash and the extent of the devastation left by the fire in the area. A large-scale investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire, and it was learned that 300 hectares of land were damaged.
