Claims that visa-free travel with a green passport has ended following the European Parliament report have sparked widespread public reaction. The Directorate of Communications refuted reports in some media outlets, stating, "There has been no change in our citizens' visa-free travel rights with green passports."
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications' Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) announced that claims regarding the end of visa-free travel for green passport holders, following the European Parliament's (EP) recent report on Turkey, do not reflect the truth.
In a statement made on DMM's social media account, it was stated that the claims shared on some accounts, such as "With the European Parliament's latest report on Turkey, the era of travel with green passports has ended," are completely baseless.
"THERE IS NO SUCH DECISION"
The statement emphasized that the European Parliament's report on Turkey does not contain any decision that restricts, prevents, or eliminates the current visa-free travel rights of special (green) passport holders.
DMM noted that the report clearly contains biased assessments with a deliberate agenda, and underlined that there is no change in the existing rights of green passport holders.
"NO CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED IN RIGHTS"
The statement included the expressions, "No changes have occurred in the visa-free travel rights that our citizens have with green passports."
DMM also called for not giving credence to content aimed at manipulating public opinion, spreading disinformation, and creating unfounded concerns among citizens.
