A doctor named Serdar Kıyak, who killed his wife and child under the guise of an accident in the Bafra district of Samsun, committed suicide in the prison where he was held. It was reported that Kıyak hanged himself using a trash bag from his cell on the bars of the ventilation window. Kıyak had previously attempted suicide by hanging himself in prison.
In the Bafra district of Samsun, a mother and her 3-year-old child lost their lives when their car plunged into the Kızılırmak River. Dr. Serdar Kıyak, who staged the incident as an accident, was arrested. Kıyak, who attempted suicide by hanging himself in Bafra Closed Prison and was subsequently transferred to Elazığ Prison, committed suicide there.
The incident occurred on September 12, 2025, in the Asarkale area of Bafra, Samsun. According to the information obtained, the car driven by Dr. Serdar Kıyak fell into the Kızılırmak River from a height of approximately 30 meters. Serdar Kıyak managed to jump out of the vehicle and escaped with minor injuries. However, his wife Gülşah Karaman Kıyak and their 3-year-old child were submerged in the water along with the car.
HE CRIED "MY SON" WHILE HOLDING HIS BLANKET
The lifeless bodies of the mother and child were retrieved from the water by a diver from the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department. The next day, the mother and son were laid to rest, and during the funeral, father Serdar Kıyak cried while holding his baby's blanket, shouting "My son."
IT WAS REVEALED THAT HE INTENTIONALLY KILLED HIS WIFE AND CHILD
Following the incident, investigations and examinations conducted by the teams revealed that Dr. Serdar Kıyak, who was taken into custody, was arrested by the Bafra Duty Magistrate on September 16, 2025, for the crimes of 'intentional murder of a spouse with premeditation and intentional murder of a child or a descendant who cannot defend themselves physically or mentally with premeditation.'
HE COMMITTED SUICIDE IN PRISON
Kıyak, who was arrested and sent to Bafra Closed Prison, attempted suicide by hanging himself and was then transferred to Elazığ Closed Prison. Kıyak committed suicide in the prison in Elazığ.
