In Kayseri, in an accident involving the drunk driver Kadir Efe, medical student Yaren Mercan lost her life. The driver has been arrested in connection with the incident.

In Kayseri, Kadir Efe, the driver of a car found to be under the influence of alcohol, was arrested following an accident that claimed the life of motorcycle rider Yaren Mercan (22), a medical student. The accident occurred on the evening of March 19 in the Mevlana neighborhood of Talas district on Sayer Street. The car with license plate 38 YE 008, driven by Kadir Efe, collided with a motorcycle, the license plate of which is unknown, operated by Yaren Mercan. The motorcycle, which was thrown several meters, left its rider Yaren Mercan injured. Upon notification from bystanders, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Mercan, a fourth-year student at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, passed away in the hospital where she was treated early the following morning.

DRIVER UNDER THE INFLUENCE ARRESTED

During the checks conducted on the detained driver Kadir Efe, it was determined that he had a blood alcohol level of 1.05 promille. Yaren Mercan was buried yesterday in the city cemetery after the autopsy procedures. A doctor's gown was placed over Mercan's coffin at the funeral. Mercan's university friends also attended the funeral in their white coats.

Alcohol-impaired driver Kadir Efe was taken to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station. Efe was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to prison.
