The political agenda today was marked by a series of statements made regarding Abdullah Öcalan. The leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, stated today, "If the isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party Group Meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM)," receiving notable support from CHP leader Özgür Özel, who said, "Mr. Devlet, I am offering a state to the Kurds. I am offering all Kurds who do not fully feel they belong to be the owners of the Republic of Turkey." The leader of the Victory Party, Ümit Özdağ, reacted harshly to the proposals made by the leaders regarding Öcalan. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır responded to Özdağ's statements, saying, "If Özdağ has concerns about this land, he should go to Devlet Bahçeli, whom he used to kiss the hand of and run after until yesterday."

BAHÇELİ INVITED ÖCALAN TO TBMM

The statements that almost caused a political chaos began with MHP leader Bahçeli's remark at his party's group meeting: "If the terrorist leader's isolation is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Group Meeting in TBMM. Let him proclaim that terrorism has completely ended and that the organization has been dissolved." Following Bahçeli's statements, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları said, "The solution to the Kurdish issue, its methods, and interlocutors are clear. The interlocutor for peace in the Middle East and Turkey is Abdullah Öcalan, who is under heavy isolation in Imralı."

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL: I AM OFFERING A STATE TO THE KURDS

The main opposition leader Özgür Özel, who supported Bahçeli's statements, said, "They say Mr. Devlet is raising his hand, you should raise yours too. I am raising my hand, Mr. Devlet. I am also offering a state to the Kurds. I am offering to be the owners of the Republic of Turkey. If you are here, let’s do it together."

ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ: BAHÇELİ HAS DECIDED TO BE A CRUTCH FOR ÖCALAN

Reacting to the series of statements, Victory Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ said, "Whenever Bahçeli is in a tight spot, he has become the spare tire of the AKP, a crutch, a support, ensuring they stay on their feet. Now we see that Bahçeli has decided to be a crutch for Öcalan."

In his statements, Özdağ said:

"The terrorist leader Öcalan no longer has a real authority. However, he has a symbolic authority stemming from being a founder. What do you expect Öcalan to say? Do you want him to say, 'Come on, bury your weapons, let’s make peace'? Before you ask Öcalan to make this speech, what did you give him? Özgür Özel says, 'I am raising my hand, Mr. Devlet, I am offering a state to the Kurds. I am offering all Kurds who do not fully feel they belong to be the owners of the Republic of Turkey.' I ask Erdoğan, Bahçeli, and Özel: What are you offering Öcalan that belongs to the Turkish nation? Have you decided that a region of Turkey will be called Kurdistan? Have you decided to change the official language of the state? Have you decided to establish a federal Turkey? Have you decided to create an autonomous Kurdistan in Southeast and Eastern Anatolia? What is Öcalan giving you in return? You must explain this to the Turkish nation. This is not something that can be resolved with speeches in the Parliament. What concessions have you given to Öcalan?

"FIGURES LIKE ÜMİT ÖZDAĞ DISTORT THE ISSUE"

Following the statements that almost caused chaos in the political agenda, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Başarır reacted to Özdağ. Başarır said:

"Figures like Ümit Özdağ distort this issue. First of all, if Özdağ has concerns about this land, he should go to Devlet Bahçeli, whom he used to kiss the hand of and run after until yesterday. The CHP has nothing to give to anyone in terms of land. Our chairman said, 'We promise a Republic of Turkey, we promise peace in these lands.' We find it hard to understand Ümit Özdağ and similar figures who take this and turn it into something completely different. If there is to be peace in this country and the Kurdish issue is to be resolved, we must reconcile with society."
