YPG WITHDREW FROM QAMISHLI
The YPG withdrew yesterday from the rural area of Qamishli in northeastern Syria with heavy weapons and military vehicles. In videos shared on social media, convoys carrying YPG flags, as well as trucks equipped with Humvees, armored vehicles, and heavy machine guns, were seen leaving the region.
ASAYISH FORCES WILL ENSURE CONTROL
On the other hand, it was noted that convoys belonging to the YPG's internal security forces, known as "Asayish," entered the city center and its surroundings to take over security duties. This step, taken within the framework of the agreement made with the Syrian government on January 30, is expected to lead to the complete takeover of security by the 'Asayish' in the region.
Asayish official Ahmed Mohammed stated that Asayish is now responsible for the security of the city center and its surroundings, which is clearly stated in the agreement made with Damascus.
On Tuesday, YPG forces also withdrew from some points in Hasakah city and repositioned in other areas. The comprehensive agreement reached between the Syrian government and the YPG envisions the integration of civil and military institutions affiliated with the administration in northeastern Syria into state institutions.
In addition to developments on the ground, Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Shaybani met with YPG leader Mazlum Abdi before their meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Munich Security Conference. The warm handshake and smiles between Shaybani and Abdi, captured on camera, created a significant public reaction.
