As part of the new electricity regulation initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources on February 2, 2025, while support continues for more than 40 million households, it has been reported that the support for 1 million 164 thousand subscribers in the high consumption group has been removed.

THE BILLS OF 1 MILLION 164 THOUSAND SUBSCRIBERS HAVE CHANGED

The new regulation was determined based on the consumption data of 2024. In this context, 1 million 164 thousand subscribers who exceeded the annual consumption limit of 5000 kWh in 2024 were removed from the support scope in 2025. More than 40 million residential subscribers will continue to benefit from the existing supports. In the new regulation, where the 60% state support on electricity bills has been restructured, the consumption level has become a determining criterion in the distribution of support. With the new regulation, supports will be delivered more fairly to those in need.

THE INCREASE IN JANUARY WAS DUE TO SEASONAL CONSUMPTION

Authorities stated that the increase in bills in January was solely due to seasonal consumption. The effects of the new application will be partially seen in February and fully in the March bills. Under the regulation, mosques, cemevis, relatives of martyrs and veterans, agricultural activities, village drinking water networks, patients dependent on devices, temporary shelter areas of AFAD, associations, and foundations will continue to benefit from these supports.
