The European Football Fans' Association (FSE) has complained to the European Commission about FIFA regarding the ticket prices and sales conditions for the 2026 World Cup. It was stated that access for fans is not fair, with high prices and limited availability being points of criticism. The cheapest final ticket currently available for open sale for the World Cup final starts at $4,185 (185,000 Turkish lira).
The European Football Fans' Association (FSE) has filed a complaint against FIFA with the European Commission, alleging "high ticket prices, transparent and unfair purchasing conditions, and the abuse of monopoly position" ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
''FAIR AND TRANSPARENT ACCESS TO TICKETS IS ESSENTIAL''
In a statement from FSE, it was said, "FIFA holds a monopoly position in the ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup and has used this power to impose conditions on fans that would never be acceptable in a competitive market. For many, this is an experience they will have only once in their lives. Fair and transparent access to tickets is essential."
While the cheapest group stage tickets for the tournament are being sold for 60 dollars, FSE noted that the number of these tickets is very limited.
In FSE's statement, it was mentioned, "In practice, there were so few tickets that almost all of the category 4 tickets were sold out before general sales began. This not only disappointed fans but also means advertising a price that does not actually exist, which constitutes a fraudulent advertisement illegal under EU consumer law."
CHEAPEST FINAL TICKET IS 4,185 DOLLARS
The high ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, to be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, are drawing attention. The cheapest final ticket currently available for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final starts at 4,185 dollars (185,000 Turkish lira). This is more than seven times the price of the cheapest ticket for the 2022 World Cup final. In contrast, the cheapest tickets for the UEFA EURO 2024 final were around 100 dollars.
