Addressing the common issues faced in online jewelry purchases, Ahmet Güney, Chairman of Güneyler Jewelry, warned citizens about what they should pay attention to. Emphasizing that gold has an international value, jeweler Güney particularly highlighted the importance of not falling for the cheap gold fallacy. He stated that to avoid potential fraud, it is essential to prefer companies with physical sales points when shopping for jewelry online.

LOW QUALITY, LOW WEIGHT, OR FAKE GOLD

Jeweler Güney pointed out that jewelry purchased online may turn out to be fake, with low weight and quality, saying, "Nowadays, we have started to buy almost everything online. We have made online shopping for gold, jewelry, quarter gold, and anything that comes our way a habit. However, there are certain disadvantages to buying gold online. Among these disadvantages, when you encounter some gold sold for much less than its value, we mistakenly think we are buying these gold pieces cheaply. Because gold is a metal that has a recognized value and is sold at a known price in the international arena. Therefore, we see that gold bought at very low prices does not reflect the real value, and for this reason, these gold pieces come to us as a loss. When people buy gold cheaply, it may turn out to be of low quality, low weight, or even fake," he said.

Jeweler Güney emphasized the importance of having a physical sales point for the store in online jewelry shopping, stating, "To prevent all of these issues, it is necessary to investigate whether the company selling jewelry online has a physical sales point or store. In the future, to avoid being a victim and to ensure that we have a place to turn to if the product we purchased has defects or issues, we need to prioritize having a contact point for the gold we bought online. Otherwise, the problems we encounter with the gold we purchased can lead to our victimization. They say they filtered the product from other websites and found it much more reasonably priced, bought it, and received it. However, the situation they encounter is so surprising that either it is not gold, or its quality has been tampered with, or even its weight has been altered. This is not an indication that the person has made a profitable trade; rather, it is a sign that they have suffered a loss," he said.
