After the lowest pension amount was passed by the Parliament and became law, the amount to be paid as a holiday bonus to retirees became a matter of curiosity. The inflation rate announced on January 3, which is 15.74%, has also raised expectations for an increase in the bonus.

As the pension amounts for SSK, Bağ-Kur, and civil servant retirees become clear in the new year, expectations for the holiday bonus to be paid to retirees have also increased. The holiday bonuses for retirees, which were raised from 2,000 TL to 3,000 TL in 2024, are on the agenda to be increased in 2025. Speaking on this matter yesterday, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan said, "We will work on the holiday bonus for retirees." Işıkhan also stated that it is still early to mention specific figures.

INCREASED FROM 1,000 TL TO 3,000 TL

As expectations regarding the holiday bonuses for retirees in 2025 increase, the last possibilities are becoming clearer considering past increases and current economic conditions. Following the January inflation exceeding expectations, the need for an increase in pension bonuses has also risen.

The holiday bonuses, which started at 1,000 TL in 2018, were raised to 1,100 TL in 2021, 2,000 TL in 2023, and increased by 50% to 3,000 TL in 2024. This trend of increase has led retirees to expect a similar raise for 2025.

HERE ARE THE MOST LIKELY FIGURES ON THE TABLE

If a 15.75% increase is made in the holiday bonuses in parallel with salaries, it is expected that the bonuses will rise to 3,472 TL. However, some estimates predict that the bonuses could reach at least 3,500 TL, and even up to 4,500 TL.

ALL EYES ON PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN

It is still unclear whether there will be an increase in pension bonuses. As Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated, considering the additional burden that the new year bonuses will bring to the budget, the new figures that will emerge after the work will be submitted for approval to President Erdoğan.
