A university student named Gizem Y., who learned from a court summons delivered to her home in Bursa that she appeared as a detainee in four cases, has now faced a judge for theft charges. Gizem Y. was acquitted after the fake Gizem, who had used her identity information, confessed to the crime. Gizem Y. still has two more cases pending.

K.D., who lives in Gemlik, obtained a fake identity through a friend. The person in question provided K.D. with the identity information of her cousin, Gizem Y. K.D., who was detained for three thefts and one case of sexual abuse of a minor, told the police that she lost her identity card and introduced herself as Gizem Y.
SEEMS TO BE DETAINED IN SILIVRI
Everything came to light when Gizem Y., a first-year student in the Department of French Language and Literature at Pamukkale University, received a court summons at her home in Gemlik in January 2024.
Shocked by the notification regarding the theft incident at a store in Istanbul, Gizem Y. consulted a lawyer with her family.
In her lawyer's investigation, it was found that Gizem Y. had a record for theft and sexual abuse of a minor, and that she was detained in the Marmara Women's Closed Prison due to some of these offenses.
FAKE GIZEM TURNED OUT TO BE K.D.
Lawyer Kemal Kapar attended the hearing at the Istanbul 12th Criminal Court of First Instance, where his client, who appears to be detained, is being tried for allegedly stealing a wallet from the bag of a person praying in a mosque.
While Gizem Y. participated in the theft case via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS), the detained defendant K.D., who claimed to be Gizem Y., was also present in the courtroom.
When K.D. confessed to the crime, it was decided to acquit Gizem Y.
ACQUITTED IN ANOTHER CASE
Gizem Y. also appeared before the judge in another case opened at the Istanbul 12th Criminal Court of First Instance regarding the theft of clothes from a clothing store.
The detained defendant present in court once again stated that her real name is K.D. and said that she obtained Gizem Y.'s identity information from her relative, R.Ü.
The court judge decided to acquit Gizem Y. of this crime committed in Istanbul, where she had never been, while it was decided to file a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against K.D. for theft and against R.Ü. for using someone else's identity information.
