The victim father Ozan Öztürk, who joined a television program discussing the incident of the "Newborn Gang" that shook Turkey, made chilling statements live on air.
Father Öztürk mentioned that his wife gave birth to twin babies in 2019 and that their male child passed away, stating, "We are one of the victims of Reyap Hospital. They said everything was normal after the birth and that my children were healthy. But in front of my eyes, they took both of my children to the incubator and to the intensive care unit.
"WE GOT OUR DAUGHTER AFTER 11 DAYS OF STRUGGLE"
I learned that the male child was intubated in front of my eyes by a doctor named Fırat Sarı. It was said to be due to respiratory failure. They did not use any devices for my daughter, they did not intubate her; they just said they were holding my son for precaution because he was in bad condition, and this continued for 11 days. We got our daughter home after a struggle and a signature, but the same was not true for our son.
"FIRAT SARI TRICKED US VERY WELL"
Doctor Fırat Sarı tricked us very well during this time. He presented himself as well-intentioned. He provided nice information. One day my child was fine, the next day he was bad. They said they would discharge him in a week, but we needed to keep him for another 2 weeks. When I objected, he said the situation was going well, that they were holding him for 5-6 hours, but he couldn't stand it. When I wanted to take him out, he deceived us by saying that during the 24-day process, my child would not be able to be separated from the device in any way, that he would not accept responsibility, and that if we wanted to take him out, we would have to pay the intensive care fees. Thank God my other child is alive. My son, who passed away, died at the end of the 24th day.
