Three sisters, unable to endure years of sexual abuse in Russia, achieved a historic victory after killing their father.
The Moscow Court officially recognized the systematic violence of 57-year-old Mikhail Khachaturyan against his daughters. The lawyers of Kristina, Angelina, and Maria Khachaturyan are fighting for the murder to be considered "self-defense."
The investigation report from the Serbsky Institute detailed the violence the father inflicted on his daughters. The report stated that the girls had been experiencing "abuse syndrome" since 2014.
Disgusting words from the father to one of his daughters, such as "You will take your mother's place, I will marry you," have come to light.
Lawyer Mari Davtyan stated, "Our daughters lived in fear for years. They were afraid their father would kill them."
Activist Anna Rivina commented, "In Russia, it is harder for a woman to defend herself than to die."
The court found Mikhail Khachaturyan guilty of sexual abuse, violence, and producing pornographic content. Despite the three sisters currently facing a 20-year prison sentence, they have a chance of acquittal.
