While driving on a motorway in England, a female driver was recorded in disbelief by another driver as she watched television on her mobile phone. These unbelievable moments left passenger Matt Cadman in shock.
Matt Cadman filmed this dangerous and irresponsible behavior on the evening of April 20, while heading west on the A40 motorway near Greenford, west of London. The recorded video clearly shows the driver of a 2015 Hyundai I30 comfortably watching television as if she were at home, with her phone secured behind the steering wheel.
Describing the incident in disbelief, Matt Cadman said, "We couldn't believe what we saw on the A40 motorway near Greenford. A woman was watching television while driving." Cadman emphasized that authorities need to take action against such life-threatening behavior.
Cadman stated, "Putting your own life at risk is somewhat understandable, but disregarding the lives of dozens of drivers around you is something entirely different. My only aim here is to prevent deaths that could occur due to such selfish actions."
There has been no statement yet from the Metropolitan Police of London regarding the incident.
According to the UK Highway Code, if a driver's attention is distracted and they are unable to maintain control of the vehicle, the police have the authority to stop the vehicle. Using a mobile phone while driving endangers the safety of everyone on the road, including the driver’s own life, and can have serious legal consequences. Since 2003, it has been strictly prohibited to talk or text on a mobile phone while driving in the UK.
