A 37-year-old private math teacher, Holly Rouse-Sweeney, has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for sexually abusing a vulnerable young male student she taught online. Rouse-Sweeney convinced the student to meet her at her home in Nottinghamshire and engaged in sexual intercourse with him multiple times, despite knowing he was underage. The crime came to light when the child's mother found inappropriate WhatsApp messages on her phone. The police found diary entries on the woman's computer admitting to the abuse. Rouse-Sweeney admitted to engaging in sexual activity with a male child and encouraging a male child to engage in sexual activity. She was sentenced to prison at Nottingham Crown Court, added to the sex offenders register, and prohibited from contacting the victim. Police detective Keeley Bringhurst said, "This was a horrific abuse of trust against a vulnerable child. Instead of teaching math, she used him for her own sexual gratification," and expressed hope that the sentence would bring comfort to the victim and his family.
