The incident started two days ago on an artificial turf field in Şanlıurfa. An argument between the families playing against each other was calmed down with the intervention of bystanders before escalating at the time.
However, the parties, who are horse breeders, faced off again today at the Diyarbakır and Elazığ Racetracks, where they had gone for races. Verbal arguments that began at the racetracks in both provinces quickly spiraled out of control and turned into a brawl. The skirmish grew even larger as other family members from Şanlıurfa, upon hearing the news of the fight, arrived at the locations.
13 INJURED, 2 IN SERIOUS CONDITION
Upon notification, many medical and security teams were dispatched to the scenes. Eight people injured in the fight involving stones, sticks, and knives at the Diyarbakır Racetrack were taken to the hospital by ambulances. It was reported that two of the injured transferred to the hospital are in life-threatening condition.
It was learned that in the simultaneous fight at the Elazığ Racetrack during the same minutes, five people were injured. Security forces have taken extensive precautions in both provinces, and a multi-faceted investigation into the incident has been launched.
