In Isparta, a truck driver who was fined for not wearing a seat belt on September 9 put on his seat belt after the fine and survived with injuries shortly afterward when the truck overturned. The driver thanked the gendarmerie teams who stopped him via CİMER.

The truck driver carrying firewood from Isparta to Antalya received a traffic fine from gendarmerie teams for not wearing a seat belt. After the inspection, the driver fastened his seat belt and continued on his way; only 5-7 kilometers later, he overturned his truck in an accident. The driver, who survived the accident injured, shared a thank-you message via CİMER, attributing his survival to the fine imposed by the gendarmerie.

SEAT BELT FINE ISSUED AT GENDARMERIE CHECKPOINT

The incident occurred on September 9, 2026. The driver, traveling from Isparta toward Antalya with his truck loaded with firewood, was stopped by Bucak Gendarmerie Traffic teams at the Çobanpınar Gendarmerie Checkpoint.

During the inspection, the driver was found not to be wearing a seat belt, and penal action was taken against him on the grounds that he violated traffic rules. After the inspection, the truck driver fastened his seat belt and continued on his way.

TRUCK OVERTURNED

About 5-7 kilometers away from the checkpoint, the driver lost control of the steering on the curved road. The firewood-loaded truck veered out of control and overturned, rolling onto its side on the left side of the road.

The driver, who was injured in the single-vehicle accident, survived the vehicle thanks to his seat belt being fastened at the time of the accident.

"GOOD THING THEY STOPPED ME AND WROTE ME A FINE"

After what happened, the truck driver applied to CİMER and thanked the gendarmerie personnel who stopped him. In his message, the driver used the following statements:

"Thanks to the teams who wrote me a fine there, I am alive right now. Good thing they stopped me and wrote me a fine. If it weren't for them, my seat belt wouldn't have been fastened, and I wouldn't be alive right now. God protected me; I had a single-vehicle accident, but it was a major accident. The seat belt saved my life."

"I WAS GOING TO GO KISS THEIR HANDS"

Stating that he had wounds on his body after the accident, the driver expressed his gratitude to the gendarmerie teams.

In the continuation of his message, the driver said, "May God be pleased with the officer friends there. From now on, I will wear my seat belt no matter what. After the accident, I had some wounds. If it weren't for that, I would have gone to them and kissed their hands. Good thing they were there, good thing they stopped me. Endless thanks to them and to my state. May God be pleased with all of them."
