A fire broke out in a grassy area in the Ildır neighborhood of the Çeşme district in İzmir. Efforts to control the flames, which are spreading increasingly close to residential areas, are ongoing from both the air and the ground.
First, after Menderes, a fire broke out in the famous holiday resort of Çeşme in İzmir, which has been struggling with forest fires for days. The flames, noticed around 14:00 in the Ildır neighborhood's grassy area, were intervened from the air and the ground. With the effect of the wind, the ignited dry grass threatens residential areas, while local residents are trying to keep the flames at bay with their own means.
THE SKY IS COVERED WITH SMOKE
Helicopters from the air and teams from the Forest Regional Directorate and Fire Department on the ground are making intense efforts to extinguish the fire. The smoke rising into the sky from the area, which also has olive trees, can be seen from kilometers away.
ANNOUNCEMENT FOR EVACUATION FROM TEAMS
The teams are announcing to citizens to evacuate their homes. In the announcement, it is stated, "Attention citizens, please evacuate our homes, let’s move away from the fire area," while there is a danger of the fire reaching residential areas.
