Sixteen Bangladeshi workers died in a fire that broke out in a furniture factory in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. It was announced that contact was being made with the Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Saudi authorities in order to return the bodies to the families.
A fire that broke out in a furniture factory in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, ended in disaster. 16 Bangladeshi workers who were trapped in the factory, which was quickly engulfed by the flames, lost their lives.
FLAMES QUICKLY COVERED THE ENTIRE FACTORY
The incident occurred at a furniture manufacturing factory operating in the Musa Sanaiya industrial area in Riyadh. The fire, which broke out for reasons not yet determined, quickly grew due to the flammable materials inside and engulfed the entire building. Numerous firefighting and medical teams were dispatched to the area upon the notification. After the fire was brought under control by the teams' intervention, the teams entering the building reached the lifeless bodies of 16 Bangladeshi workers.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY: GRIEVING FAMILIES INFORMED
Following the fire, the Bangladeshi Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment issued a written statement. The statement reported that 10 of the workers who lost their lives were from the Naogaon region, while the other 6 workers were from the Natore and Rajshahi regions.
BODIES WILL BE SENT TO THEIR HOMELAND
The Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced that they are closely following the process. In the statement made, it was emphasized that they are in full cooperation and contact with the Saudi authorities to bring the bodies of the deceased workers to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
