In the Arsuz district of Hatay, the intervention to the forest fire that broke out continues with 152 vehicles and 479 personnel from the air and land. 7 vehicles have been assigned to evacuate citizens in the area as the fire spread to 4 houses, and support has been requested from neighboring provinces.

THE FIRE STARTED IN THE DAYTIME HOURS

The fire broke out around 11:40 in the forested area of Kozaklı neighborhood in Arsuz district. Upon notification of the fire, firefighting and forest regional directorate teams were dispatched to the area. The teams began to intervene in the fire from the air and land in a short time. As of now, the intervention continues with 152 vehicles and 479 personnel.

SUPPORT REQUESTED FROM NEIGHBORING PROVINCES

In case the fire spreads to residential areas, AFAD teams have directed 7 service vehicles to evacuate our citizens who may be affected by the fire. Water cannons (TOMA) belonging to the Gendarmerie and Police units are also supporting the intervention to the fire. Additionally, vehicles and personnel have been requested from neighboring provinces; Adana, Osmaniye, Kilis, and Gaziantep for intervention in the fire.

In the Harlısı area, the fire that spread to 4 houses was intervened, and the fire was extinguished, while families were evacuated to a safe area. Memiş Azad, who described the terrifying moments, said, "The fire started at 11:00. The fire came from Kozaklı village towards this side. It has now reached the inside of the village. The barns are burning, houses are burning. The entire village has been evacuated. The fire has burned 5 large houses. 3 barns have also burned."
