The first blunder of the new season! Özlem Gürses really hit the nail on the head.

Main news anchor Özlem Gürses drew attention with a calculation made over Turkey's domestic and national electric car, Togg, while criticizing fuel price hikes live on air. Her question about how much it would cost to fill the 'tank' of the fully electric Togg with diesel caused surprise.

Experienced television journalist Özlem Gürses, who presents the news bulletin on Sözcü TV screens, made a major blunder while evaluating the fuel price hikes. Gürses, who treated the fully electric Togg as if it were a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, began her remarks by saying, "Now let's say you have a Togg. You know, Turkey's domestic and national car. How much will you pay to fill its tank?"

"DIESEL COULD REACH 100 TL PER LITER BY THE END OF THE YEAR"

After her erroneous opening about Togg, Gürses drew attention to the increase in diesel prices, noting that figures would skyrocket as of midnight, saying, "Experts say that because there will be a price hike every month, the likelihood of diesel reaching 100 TL per liter by the end of the year is very high. Well, it has already seen 84. They'll say 'don't exaggerate,' what are we exaggerating? You're buying diesel at 84 TL per liter."

THE "ARE YOU PAID IN DOLLARS?" REFERENCE

Continuing her criticism, Gürses compared global fuel prices with the situation in Turkey, referring to past debates on the economy. The anchor, who argued that no such pricing exists anywhere in the world, concluded by saying, "Oh well, yes, it's around 1.5 dollars or 2 dollars anyway, but you don't receive your salary in dollars, do you? A certain esteemed minister once asked, 'Are you paid in dollars?' We don't, sir; we are paid in Turkish lira."
