Ismail Kurt, who lost his life in a shipwreck off the coast of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on August 30, was laid to rest in Nicosia following a funeral ceremony. President Tufan Erhürman, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and other officials attended the funeral prayer.
Ismail Kurt, who lost his life in a ship accident off the coast of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on August 30, was laid to rest after a funeral ceremony held in Nicosia.
ISMAIL KURT BIDDED FAREWELL
A funeral prayer was held for Ismail Kurt, who lost his life in the accident that resulted in the sinking of the passenger ship named Filo Jet, at the Ismail Safa Mosque in Nicosia. After the Friday prayer and the subsequent funeral prayer, Kurt's body was taken to the Nicosia Cemetery and buried.

Ismail Kurt’s funeral ceremony was attended by TRNC President Tufan Erhurman, Prime Minister Unal Ustel, Minister of Interior Dursun Oguz, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Sila Usar Incirli, as well as Kurt's colleagues, relatives and loved ones.
FIRST BODY RECOVERED FROM THE SUNKEN SHIP
Following the ship accident, it was stated that the first body reached by TCG Alemdar within the scope of underwater search and rescue activities carried out by the Turkish Naval Forces in the region was Ismail Kurt. It was reported that search and rescue activities for the Filo Jet ship, which sank off Kyrenia, continued under the coordination of the Southern Naval Area Commander and the Underwater Operations Commander by ships and naval air vehicles belonging to the Turkish Naval Forces.
TCG ALEMDAR RECOVERED THE 4TH BODY FROM 554 METERS
It was reported that the 4th body was recovered from a depth of 554 meters during the operations carried out by the Turkish Naval Forces' Main Rescue Ship TCG Alemdar. Following the latest developments, the number of bodies recovered from the sea reached 4, while it was announced that the number of missing persons was 16.
