As part of the investigations initiated against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), 92 individuals were referred to the court with a request for arrest. The first decisions from the court have started to come in. Buğra Gökçe, Murat Abbas, Serdar Haydanlı, Tuncay Yılmaz, Alper Aydın, Eyüp Subaşı, Kamil Timur Sarıbaş, and Mete Sarısaltuk have been arrested. Five individuals, including artist Ercan Saatçi, have been released.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requested the separate arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on charges of "aiding a terrorist organization" and "corruption" after he was detained on March 19. Along with İmamoğlu, the arrest of Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, Reform Foundation President Mehmet Ali Çalışkan, and IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat was also requested on the grounds of "aiding an armed terrorist organization."
In the "corruption" investigation against IMM, among the other 89 individuals brought to court, 5 suspects were referred to the peace criminal court for the charges of "establishing and managing a criminal organization," "receiving bribes," "extortion," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender," while 84 suspects were referred for the charges of "being a member of a criminal organization," "receiving bribes," and "giving bribes." Decisions are being announced regarding those referred to the court for arrest.
FIRST DECISIONS HAVE ARRIVED
The number of individuals referred to the court for arrest in both investigations has risen to 92. Buğra Gökçe, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA), Murat Abbas, General Manager of IMM's subsidiary Kültür AŞ, Serdar Haydanlı, Tuncay Yılmaz, General Manager of İmamoğlu İnşaat San. A. company, Alper Aydın, Eyüp Subaşı, Kamil Timur Sarıbaş, and Mete Sarısaltuk have been arrested.
IMM Deputy Secretary General Cemal Ufuk Karakaya and IMM Urban Design Branch Manager Bayram Taşkın, Canan Münüplü, Birsen Şahin, Vahit Doğan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of IMM Media A.Ş., and artist Ercan Saatçi have been released.
