Six internationally recognized women embarked on an extraordinary journey aboard the New Shepard NS-31 spacecraft. The crew included famous singer Katy Perry, Bezos's fiancée Lauren Sanchez, media host Gayle King, NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.
During the approximately 10-minute journey, the team crossed the Kármán line, the international boundary of space. The crew floated in weightlessness for a full three minutes and experienced magnificent moments in the infinity of space.
Katy Perry took a daisy named after her daughter Daisy into space. The famous singer had an unforgettable moment singing Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" in space. After landing, Perry, unable to hold back her tears, described the journey as "the highest peak of her life."
The journey was closely followed by celebrities such as Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, Kris Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian. Jeff Bezos unexpectedly fell to the ground during the welcome but quickly recovered.
This mission, the 11th human flight of the New Shepard program, sent a total of 52 people into space. The mission, conducted with an all-female crew, once again highlighted the role of women in space exploration.
