The detained Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, through his lawyer, shared the following message: "Dear citizens, I know this path is thorny, please remain calm. I am in good condition and my morale is high. I have never doubted what I have done until now. This will not be a process that will make either you or my family hang their heads in shame. My trust in Turkish justice is infinite."

As part of the investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık were taken into custody yesterday morning following a search at Çalık's home.

FIRST MESSAGE FROM ÇALIK

Mehmet Murat Çalık, the detained Mayor of Beylikdüzü, had a statement made by his lawyer Melih Koçhan regarding his client's situation. Koçhan stated that he was able to meet with Çalık at 5:00 PM, that his health and morale were good, and that he wanted his colleagues to continue municipal services with the same determination without any interruption.

"DEAR CITIZENS, THIS WILL NOT BE A PROCESS THAT WILL MAKE EITHER YOU OR MY FAMILY BOW THEIR HEADS"

Çalık conveyed the following message through his lawyer: "Dear citizens, I know this path is thorny, please remain calm, my situation is quite good, my morale is high, and I have never doubted what I have done until now. This will not be a process that will make either you or my family bow their heads. My trust in Turkish justice is infinite. I am fine, I love you all very much."
