After being arrested in a terrorism investigation, İBB Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who was granted a release decision under house arrest due to health issues, made a statement. Polat said, "I need to rest. I am very tired. I love everyone very much. The conscience of this country is not dead."
The investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 7 suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu and Resul Emrah Şahan, who were removed from their positions as mayor, and Mahir Polat, continues on the charge of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."
HOUSE ARREST DECISION FOR MAHIR POLAT
As part of the investigation, it was decided to release Mahir Polat, who is in custody, under judicial control conditions that include "not leaving the residence" due to his health condition.
"THE CONSCIENCE OF THIS COUNTRY HAS NOT EXPIRED"
Speaking to the press after his release from prison, Polat said, "I need to rest. I am very tired. I love everyone very much. The conscience of this country has not expired. I both trust and love the people of this land very much."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Mahir Polat was taken by ambulance from the Marmara Closed Penal Institution, where he was held in custody, to Mehmet Akif Ersoy Chest Heart and Vascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital on March 29, where he underwent angiography while being monitored in the Cardiology Intensive Care Unit. After his treatment was completed, Polat was discharged on March 31 and sent back to the penal institution.
Yesterday morning, Polat was transferred from the prison to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution for evaluation of his health condition, and after his examination there, he was taken back to prison.
In a letter sent to the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office by the 11th Specialization Board of Forensic Medicine, it was stated that Polat should be referred to a fully equipped state or university hospital for tests including 24-hour blood pressure holter and rhythm holter tests, routine biochemistry, thyroid function tests, hemogram, 24-hour urine protein value, and creatinine clearance, as well as neck and abdominal ultrasonography (USG), and that the results should be sent.
The letter also indicated that there was no need to send Polat back to the Forensic Medicine Institution for re-examination after his examination by the board.
