Kocaelispor player Serdar Dursun, who went to Kadıköy to watch the derby between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, faced backlash from fans and was asked to be sidelined. The national player explained the reason for attending the match, saying, "Fenerbahçe invited former players to watch the derby. I don't think there is any problem with me going to the match. My only mistake was sharing the story. I wish I hadn't shared it. If I hurt Kocaelispor fans, I apologize."
Kocaelispor player Serdar Dursun went to watch the derby match between his former team Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, drawing the reaction of the green-black fans who requested that he be sidelined. The national player made a statement following the reactions he received.
"THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH ME GOING TO THE MATCH"
Explaining the reason for attending the match, Serdar Dursun said, "Fenerbahçe Club invited former players to watch the derby. I don't think there is any problem with me going to the match. There is a perception in Turkey that 'you are siding with your old team'... They did this to Selçuk İnan as well. We need to get rid of this mentality." he stated.
"I WISH I HADN'T SHARED"
Continuing his statements, Serdar Dursun said, "We are honorable, proud people. Selling a match or deliberately not playing can never be an option. My only mistake there was sharing the story. I wish I hadn't shared it. If I hurt the Kocaelispor fans, I apologize." he expressed.
"I WOULD LIKE TO SCORE AGAINST FENERBAHÇE"
Serdar Dursun expressed that he wants to score against Fenerbahçe, saying, "I don't care who I play with, I am a player of Kocaelispor. I will do my best. When the Fenerbahçe match comes, I want to play in the starting 11, perform well, and score my goal. Fans can rest assured, I will fight until the last drop of my blood." he stated.
