The first statement from Turkey regarding Israel's ground operation in Lebanon.

The first statement from Turkey regarding Israel's ground operation in Lebanon.

01.10.2024 13:30

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated regarding Israel's ground operation in Lebanon: "Israel's violation of this country's sovereignty and territorial integrity is an unlawful act of aggression. This attack must come to an end as soon as possible, and Israeli soldiers must withdraw from Lebanese territory. The UN Security Council must fulfill its obligations under international law and take the necessary measures against this aggression towards Lebanon."

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has turned Gaza into a bloodbath, killing tens of thousands of Palestinians. Last night, Israel launched a ground operation into Lebanon, and the first statement regarding the development came from Turkey.

"IT IS AN UNLAWFUL OCCUPATION ATTEMPT"

In a written statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that Israel's ground attack on Lebanon violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country and constitutes an unlawful occupation attempt. This attack must cease immediately, and Israeli soldiers must withdraw from Lebanese territory.

The attack in question targets not only the security and stability of regional countries but also those of countries outside the region. As a result of this dangerous occupation attempt, it is highly likely that a new wave of migration will emerge and that extremists will gain ground worldwide. It should not be forgotten that these developments will also affect the countries that provide political support and arms to Israel.

THEY CALLED ON THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL

The UN Security Council must fulfill the requirements of international law and take the necessary measures against this attack on Lebanon's occupation. Every crime committed by Israel is also an assault on international law and the UN Charter. On the other hand, the main step that needs to be taken to establish peace in the region is to ensure an urgent and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Bringing peace to Gaza is the responsibility of all humanity," the statements said.
