In Bartın, the trial of 36 defendants, including 33 detained individuals, has begun on charges of sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, with the victim's own mother among the accused. After the first hearing, which was held behind closed doors and lasted 15 hours, a release decision was made for 9 defendants.

36 DEFENDANTS ON TRIAL
In a closed hearing at the Bartın 2nd Heavy Penal Court, 24 detained defendants, including the mother, and 3 non-detained defendants were present. Nine detained defendants under the age of 18 participated in the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System.
While a large crowd of relatives of the defendants was observed in front of the courthouse, only the defendants and lawyers were allowed into the courtroom.
FIRST HEARING LASTED 15 HOURS
In the hearing, which lasted approximately 15 hours, after taking the defendants' statements, the court panel announced its interim decision, ordering the release of 9 defendants and the detention of 1 defendant, and adjourned the hearing.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In Bartın, on April 18, an investigation was launched by the Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following a report to law enforcement that a 13-year-old girl had been subjected to sexual abuse.
As a result of the investigations conducted and digital evidence obtained within the scope of the probe, strong suspicion of crime was reached that the victim child was abused by individuals she communicated with via social media.
In this context, an indictment prepared on May 8 against 36 individuals, 10 of whom were under 18, was accepted by the Bartın 2nd Heavy Penal Court.
Within the scope of the case, 33 individuals, 9 of whom were under 18, were detained.
