As a result of this swaying, the forklift and the operator fell through the gap that formed between the platform and the building.
A forklift operator working on a construction project in Vietnam tragically lost his life after falling from a platform suspended high above. All the details of the incident were captured by security cameras at the construction site.
The footage shows the worker, wearing a helmet and a fluorescent vest, operating a green forklift on a platform suspended in the air by a crane. The platform is hanging a few meters outside the unfinished building and is used as a passage into the building.
As the worker attempted to drive the forklift into the building, the platform suddenly swayed away from the building just as the front of the vehicle reached the edge. This swaying created a large gap between the platform and the building. The forklift fell through this gap and flipped over with the operator, crashing to the ground at the construction site.
Other workers who witnessed the incident looked down in horror from the edge of the building but could do nothing to save their colleague. The unnamed worker was reported to have died at the scene.
This tragic accident, which occurred last month, was only made public last Thursday. Hundreds of construction workers lose their lives in Vietnam every year. It is estimated that around 650 people will die in workplace accidents in 2024 alone.
This accident once again highlighted the risks associated with working at heights and the dangers that can arise when proper precautions are not taken.
